What else would a book worm like Miss S want to be for Halloween but a Book fairy! And an eco friendly one too. I took up the challenge and immediately started rummaging for an old novel with a hard binding, already excited and filled with ideas.
Carefully folding some paper in cones, some in fans and some in rosettes took a few hours. Bringing them all together to form this gorgeous dress took another few. But the efforts were well worth the smile and excited squeals I got to hear throughout.
The hardback decorated with the paper fans and rosettes made for the perfect fairy wings. Some elastic and Miss S could wear them easily.
Finally the much needed fairy wand and an hair accessory to pull the look together.
I have up-cycled the fans and rosettes from this costume to make a number 10 birthday prop for Simona’s birthday party. You can check more details about the party here – Garden Party For Tenth Birthday!
My little nerdy bookworm rustled and bustled happily in her costume throughout the evening doing what she loves best, reading. And the mommy in me couldn’t have been prouder!
